Organizational Behaviour

There was little if any face to face interaction between the various levels of employees working for Conavia. These methods of communication between the subordinates and management proved to be troublesome for the company. Many cases arose where employees claimed that they were not properly told what to do resulting in tense relations with management. Stanley was under the assumption that he was going to soon become the president of the company as he was asked to monitor the business when George was away from the office. However to Stanley's surprise George hired someone else. Stanley's hard work, loyalty, and dedication never paid any dividends that he expected due the fact that there was a lack of effective communicating amongst each employee. George's instructions and the methods used within his organization resulted in lack communication and direction. Furthermore, the method took away from the employees and Stanley's ability to make their own decisions without having clearance from George. This severely slowed down the business as things were constantly put on hold while waiting. There was no faith given to the employees to take initiative and call shots on their own. The lack of communication was so bad that there were times in which George would deal with people who had no knowledge of the companies financial position leading to him making false assumptions. The reluctancy to communicate with Stanley regarding financial issue was very troublesome as he was the Vice President of Economics and Finance.
             It is evident that there were certain causes that resulted in the communication problems that existed between Stanley and George. For one, the status effect came into play greatly. Since George was the president of the company and dealt with only high standing people, the organization's employees he didn't feel that talking to Stanley would benefit them in any way even though he was the one responsible for taking care Conavia while he was away.
