The Land Of The Rising Sun

The county that I chosen for my third country analyses is the island of Japan. The main reason I chose to write about Japan is because their economic prosperity is second in the world trailing only the U.S. Another reason I thought researching Japan would be beneficial is because of the noted health and industrial advances made by Japan since the second world war. The following are my findings on the people, economy, resources, and industries that make up the nation of Japan.
There are over 126 million people living on the island of Japan. These people live in an upper-class country and have a low level of impoverished people. Japan has made its surge into the world of high income nations over the past thirty years because of its technological advances and also its successful importing and exporting records with nations such as the United States, Britain, Hong Kong, and Germany. Twenty percent of Japanese live in the top ten percent of the nations wealthiest class, while only one percent of Japanese live in the countries bottom ten percent of income. This is a balance of wealth which exceeds even U.S. standards (www.libraryofcongress.org.).
As of the year 2000 the yearly Gross Domestic Product for Japan was $3.15 trillion and the average per capita income was $24,900. The unemployment rate was around four percent of those looking for work and once again on the decline. The economy of Japan is bases around the 67.7 million working Japanese who contribute to this powerful economy. The breakdown of these people are: 65 percent in services, 30 percent in industry, and 5 percent in agriculture. The main exports that contribute to Japan's economy are motorcycles, electronics, chemicals, and textiles. The main agricultural products of Japan are rice, sugar beets, and fruits and vegetables (www.worldbank.org.).
The island of Japan has also become known around the world for its peoples healthfulness and longevity.
