The results of a national poll taken March, 2001 conducted by the Per Forum on Religion and Public Life revealed that 55% of Americans believe religious influences in public life have been declining. The problems with religion are what scare Americans away from God. Most people do believe there is a God and that religious beliefs are a good thing. Although, when it really comes down to loving and trusting God, many problems occur. My beliefs have grown because of such experiences and my views of God and religion will be clearly stated in the following opinions put into text below.
In my opinion, the only God is the God of Christianity. This God gave his Son to die for us and cleanse of us of our sins so that we may enter the kingdom of heaven. The evidence of His existence lies primarily in the bible. The characteristics of God, everything about God and what He has performed in the world lies in this book. The important characteristics can be listed and proven using the bible. He lives forever. (Isa 57:15 - F
or thus says the high and exalted One Who lives forever…) He knows everything that has happened and will happen. His knowledge is unimaginable. (Romans 11:33 - Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways!) He is extremely loving. (De 3: 33 - Indeed, He loves the people; All Your holy ones are in Your hand, And they followed in Your steps; {Everyone} receives of Your words.) He is righteous beyond belief. (De 32: The Rock! His work is perfect, For all His ways are just; A God of faithfulness and without injustice, Righteous and upright is He.) He is perfectly holy. (Ps. 99: 5 - Exalt the LORD our God And worship at His footstool; Holy is He.) He is all-powerful. (Ps. 29: 4 - The voice of the LORD is powerful, The voice of the LORD is majestic.)
