The Most Wonderful Time of the Year?

Christmas should be a time of joy and happiness but when it rolls around every year I hear the same tearing of paper, the timer going off in the kitchen, and the yelling voice of my grandmother saying, "Pete get out here." I've found myself almost dreading Christmas time. Do not get me wrong Christmas is great. It is full of family rituals and plenty of church services to praise the birth of Jesus but there is so much more to it that we do not realize.
Sundays have always been family days but when December rolls around it seems like there is a Christmas get together every weekend. My four person family gets ready and arrives at church just as the bells are ringing. We walk up the snow covered stairs and enter the church that is full of Christmas cheer. I notice the farming families have put aside all their worries about animals and wells freezing and they have all gotten cozy and snuggled into their pews for the first Sunday of Advent. All the tension in my family has been released and we have all came together to hear the story of Jesus Christ. It is weird how a holiday can affect a family. All other days out of the year we could be yelling at each other and disagreeing on ever matter but when Christmas rolls around we tend to try to get on everyone's good side. I wonder why, presents are involved. The three other Sundays of Advent go by like every other year, all the worries are set aside during the church services but the minute you get home it is a mad house again. .
Sadly enough Christmas can lead you into depression. There is only a few reasons why to one of those is the giving and receiving of presents. In my family and most others it is a tradition to give presents, but where does this money come from to buy the presents. That's the depressing part. My parents probably save up their free money the whole year especially when my sister and I were younger to buy us wonderful Christmas presents.
