So, thinking that I could try and make her happy by getting things that she wanted; I went back and bought them for her. When I got back home I was all happy and she was wondering why; then I showed her the candles she was happy and grateful but I have realized that I really only bought because it makes me happy rather that making her happy. I was just being selfish. Buying a person gifts is a false perception of love because many people do not realize but when you buy something for a person it is actually a way to make yourself happy rather than the other person. I have realized that Just spending time with her had made her happier than when I buy her things.
A way to show your love for someone is by going out of your way to help them or even just to see them if you are busy doing stuff. This is a great example of how someone should look at love for a person because it really does show that you love them. I know it is hard to do this because I have tried and also I am dealing with it right now at this point. I know in my head that I love my mom but, it is hard for me to show it to her since I am in college. My mom is going through a very tough time right now in life. She is going through radiation treatment to remove the remains of the tumor in her head that the doctor couldn't get out because it would have been too dangerous. So I would love to go see her all of the time but it is so hard to go back home a lot because I have a lot of things going on at school. But, to show her that I still love her I call to her and make sure that she is doing well. Any chance on a weekend that I get to go home to see her I will, to make sure that she is doing well and if she needs anything done around the house I will do anything she asks because I want to see her happy in a time where she is tired and not feeling well because of the treatments. Another example I wanted to make her happy so last weekend I went home without telling her I was going to come home to surprise her.
