The Future of Saving Our Planet

"(Photovoltaic Systems) That is a lot of free clean energy that could be utilized instead of wasted, if properly converted and collected. We are now just starting to break the surface of what is possible with clean renewable energy. With further progression and improvements made to the current technology we could become a strictly electric powered nation, saving a lot of money on oil purchases. .
To put it into terms a little easier to understand, assuming we could efficiently convert approximately 0.0014 percent of the sunlight that hits the earth on an average day, we could power the United States for a whole day with solar energy collected by the indirect photovoltaic system, also known as solar panels placed in a spot where they receive sunlight convert it into usable energy. Solar cells "are made from semi conductor material mainly silicon, with small amounts of gallium arsenide or cadmium sulfide so that the cell emits electrons when exposed to sunlight. "(Bortman) Although, I see photovoltaic systems as being in the beginning stages, I know it will be a breakthrough that will revolutionize how every person on Earth lives their everyday lives. However, the technology or knowledge is not yet known to be majorly efficient, so current uses that help save some money and energy are that it can "be used to charge storage batteries aboard boats, to operate lighthouses, used in remote areas for pumping water either for cattle or irrigation, and to supply power for emergency telephones on highways. "(Bortman) All of which, do not cause air pollution, appealing to the people who strongly believe in global warming. .
Even though I personally don't believe in global warming, it would only be beneficial to pursue more research in that field. If global warming is actually occurring then clean renewable energy slows it down a lot, and if global warming is just a myth, advancements in clean renewable energy will still save money, resources, and reduce our dependence on others.
