Something I find to be very helpful from your leadership was knowing you before this class. In my freshmen class you taught in a different way than this class. Here, you questioned us and made us think about what we just blurted out as an answer. You challenged us in ways that not many professors do. During my freshmen year you were very helpful and a guide for us, which was needed. I learned in this class that to be an effective leader you have to meet your audience's level. The ability to transform from different styles of leading is something I have always worked on and am still working on, but I believe because of this class I know have a better understanding of it from watching you. .
Transformational Leadership.
I am surrounded by leadership everyday. Some are great leaders, and others not so much, but nonetheless they are everywhere. The leadership style I have aspired to embody was always there but I never had a name for it. This class helped me see and define transformational leadership. The book helped me with this subject when it stated how transformational leaders ignore the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" attitude and instead adopting "If it ain't broke, you're not looking hard enough." Transformational leadership is not about going through the motions, it is forever changing something because everything has room to grow and become something more. .
Being a transformational leader can be the ability to take your audience to a place they never thought they could go before. I saw that in throughout this class this semester. Our discussions were our outlet to speak our mind and you challenged us in so many ways, forcing us to look deeper into what we were saying or thinking. I want to hold those characteristics in my leadership, I want to be creative and motivate people while challenging them to challenge themselves. .
Power and Leadership.
Power is good, but has the ability to be bad.
