Preventing Cyberbullying

Cyberbullying cannot remain denied as an issue because research shows suicide, dropout, and incident rates have increased because of cyberbullying. Cyberbullying affects young people all over the world, causing their families depression, stress, pain, and suffering. According to bullying statistics, over half of adolescents and teens have been bullied online (Cyber Bullying Statistics). Anti-bullying organizations, parents, and schools should take a stand on cyberbullying to raise more awareness and educate people on ways to avoid future incidents. This can prepare parents and families who ignore signs of cyberbullying to be alert of their child's behavior and thoughts at all times. .
Due to the fact that Internet use is very much accessible, cyberbullying can happen at anytime during the day. Because of development and growth in technology it is almost impossible to stop a child from using the Internet. However, anti-bullying organizations can be a helping hand that guides and teaches teenagers how to get along and cope with frustration and anger at home. You never know what a child goes through and if these types of organizations can teach them it can better the lives of bullies. Also, anti-bullying organizations should do things like having giveaways for kids, reward teenagers for doing their best in school, recognize them for excellence, go different places, and also engage parents too. .
A challenge may be that no matter how much parents try to avoid the behavior, the issue still remains. However, parents too can enforce better social networking regulations by limiting the time that is used on the Internet, and observing their child's account to monitor the behaviors of what his or her child may encounter. With that being said, parents should petition for cyberbullying to have more consequences and regulations. Suicide is the third leading cause of death among young people, resulting in about 4,400 deaths per year, according to statistics (Bullying and Suicide 1).
