There are also a number of government grants at the moment in the shape of tax cuts and financing facilities for investors in this field. Approximately and up to 30% refundable tax offerings are being made in this sector. There is also a great potential in this field at the moment as Vancouver has on e of the highest annual photovoltaic potential surpassing that of Tokyo and Berlin. There are a number of companies in this at the moment but none has gone to the extent of taking solar power to the next stage where they would use this to transmit power to consumers or install facilities at building or street level to ensure power distribution in an economic and environmentally friendly manner. .
Majority of the existing companies use these technologies to at an individual consumer level for the purpose of either providing illumination or warm water. There is a huge potential in this market as it is done on a relatively small scale so if economies of scale are to be implemented in this market and bulk purchases of PV panels and the necessary paraphernalia are done then a clear cost advantage can be used to ensure a competitive market. Traditionally the companies themselves are involved in the process of selling and then installing these systems which is fine as that reduces cost and the same method would have to be adopted not only to cut costs but also to ensure quality.

Even though Suncor is an established market but it has to be kept in mind that this is not their area of expertise. This even though related to energy would be a totally new market and the companies already in business still have a larger area and more knowledge of this business so the logical point of competing would be in cost and quality.
