Personal Goals

" This phrase muttered through the hallways of so many businesses, may be the downfall to so many careers: Employees content to do what they do everyday without change or challenge. Life should not be this mundane and repetitive for any individual. Any average individual can choose to stay where they are and do what they do. I create my own goals and plan to achieve these goals through higher education.
As I finished high school, I was not confronted with the normal choice most of my friends were given. They had the opportunity to go directly into a college or university to continue their education, or go out into the workplace and take time off to decide which career path they would like to study. College was not an option for me. I had worked continuously from the age of 13, only taking time off from my jobs to play sports in high school. My family was unable to attain the funds necessary for my continued education after high school, which left me with the only choice available, to continue working until I could afford to pay for the education myself.
Now I approach learning and education much differently than in high school. I was always able to just get by, finishing classes with a respectable grade but never excelling to the honor society status. My personal outlook on the importance of education has changed since then. I no longer see the time and effort necessary to succeed in classes as an inconvenience to my time. Earning my Bachelor of Science in Information Technology is now my main goal.
Achieving a higher level of education will change my life in many aspects. Upon completion of my Bachelor of Science, I will be eligible for the executive training program at the bank I am employeed at. This program provides a Master Degree Education combined with management training throughout many areas of the bank. This is a program that I thought I would never be accepted. Monetary reasons play a large factor for me as well.
