Darkness falls, the warmth of the late afternoon vanishes. The aroma of cut grass, chalked lines, and cheap concessions fills the area. One hundred yards bye fifty changes from what looks like a golf green to a muddy, sweat and blood filled battle field. Walking In through the dark tunnel, with a vision of lights, fans, cheerleaders, and among all chaos ahead, many things cross your mind but one is engraved in the back of it, knowing were you've come from, and knowing why you are here. You take the walk and all the while your wondering many things, you have flash backs to early August with what seems to be a time spent with a tyrant. The anticipation of seeing your parents amongst thousands of people ready to see what will unfold in 48 minutes.
Your night starts as you arrive in the locker room. You sit down in the seat you've sat so many time before. The seat that you've bled sweated and cried in. It's all different tonight, the loud music and predictions of the game to come from teammates floods the room. You than sit down to remove pads from the pants the yellowed practice pants that lost that shimmering white back in the early days of August. The shiny new uniform is prepared and ready to go. Your body now is covered in goose bumps and stomach is filled with butterflies. You now sit for the longest 20 minutes of your life waiting for your pre-game speech from your coach. The coach comes in and all the noise vanishes and pure silence fills the room. His opening words of the speech cut through you like a hot knife. You hang on every word, as adrenaline fills your body. Your mind fills with visions of the huge plays you want to make. You hear him finish the speech with the "Go Mustangs" yell which becomes your war cry. .
You now walk out of the locker room and through the parking lot which is usually empty, not tonight. For tonight it is filled with cars every place the eye can see. You make your way a little further and you see students of your highschool huddled together chanting and screaming you and your teammates names, chanting for The Mustangs to "Go, Fight, Win!" the adrenaline now pumps even higher with a mix of pride surging through you.
