            October Sky directed by Joe Johnston was a wonderful movie.
             exciting and realistic because it was based on a true story and Homer Hickam .
             inspires the viewers to never give up on their hopes. In the movie he is inspired to .
             follow his dreams by his mother Elsie Hickam, Miss Riley, Quentin Wilson, Roy .
             Lee Cooke and O'Dell. Homer Hickam had to go through the High Five Principles .
             to reach his goal and win the science fair so he can get a scholarship to go to .
             college.
             The first of the High Five Principles is change is constant. Change is very.
             constant in October Sky. Homer Hickam had to go through a lot of change. In the .
             movie Homer's father John Hickam got into a mining accident and it was very .
             critical. Homer had to work in the mines to pay for his dad's medical treatments. .
             By doing this he did not go to school but he had to accept the change whether he .
             liked it or not. Also his life changed a lot when "The Rocket Boys" were accused .
             of starting the forest fire. They had to close down his homemade rockets that they .
             launched because of the fire but later in the movie he proves to everyone that his .
             rocket did not start the fire.
             The second of the High Five Principles is learning is ongoing. Learning is ongoing.
             in this movie because even though Homer wanted to make rockets, he had to learn .
             how to do this and his friend Quentin Wilson helps him learn to make rockets. Also .
             after he learned to make rockets, he had to learn a lot of math to make the rockets .
             better and his teacher Miss Riley gave him a book on his birthday to help Homer .
             learn some math. Also he won a scholarship to Indiana College and he continued to .
             learn there and by continuing to learn he won the medal for Science there. By .
             continuing learning Homer was capable of achieving his dream.
