He was kind of a loner, since he was twenty-five years old and much older then most of his fellow soldiers. Hitler tried a little too hard to impress his superiors, yet he never succeeded and stayed a corporal his whole time in war. Hitler's role in his regiment was a dispatch runner, which were soldiers who ran messages back and forth to the command staff. When he reflected on the war that he faced, he stated that he disliked it. On October 7, 1916, Hitler was wounded during the Battle of Somme and was temporarily discharged. After he recovered he was assigned lighter work in Munich. While in Munich he saw many anti-war protestors. He blamed these protests on the Jewish people. These anti-war protest and other Anti-Semitic events that went on in Vienna, ignited the fire of hatred towards the Jews in Hitler's Heart. .
             The war ended with an armistice on November 11, 1918, with Germany being defeated. After the Treaty of Versailles was signed, Hitler and many other Germans felt that Germany got the raw end of the deal and a feeling of nationalism grew. Hitler was stationed in Munich as an informer. He went undercover searching for agents in the army with Marxist beliefs. Hitler was later given the job of giving speeches to his fellow soldiers on the dangers of Communism and pacifism, and also speaking about democracy and disobedience. He added in his views on the Jewish people. In 1919, he was sent to investigate the German Workers" Party. While at a meeting he was so outraged by some of the things that were said that he spoke out against the group. The members of the party immediately fell in love with him. After Hitler reviewed the party's pamphlet, he realized that he agreed with their main point, building a strong nationalist, pro-military, anti-Semitic party made of working people. Although at the time the party was very disorganized, Hitler saw hope in them and decided to join.
