Cloning Cloning

The next way of cloning is called Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer (9). This is where taking the nucleus from one cell and placing it into an egg, creating a clone of an already living thing (10). .
There are many questions when it comes to cloning and the ethics of cloning. For example, if a child is cloned from one parent of a couple, would the other partner have any ownership or right over the child since it wasn't made from them? When of the most pondered questions in my mind would be if a clone would have feeling or soul (Stanley 48)? Would it live a normal healthy life? Debbie Stanley also suggests other questions such as how would it feel to know you were just a replacement of someone else (41)? Side affects is another important thing to worry about. Could the clone be carrying a new disease or have any abnormalities (41)? Often time's people think of cloning and immediately reject the idea of it for fear that it would get misused for evil and someone would create an entire race of a certain kind of people which would in reality be like Hitler trying to create a super race(Stanley 43). More importantly, who will get cloned?.
Though cloning might seem like a bad idea, it could have great rewards if used properly and is controlled. Our technology of cloning and how it works is not yet advanced enough, but how will it ever be undiscovered if further research is not done. Many companies have invested in the idea of therapeutic cloning for copying human organs into pigs that our bodies will accept and use (J.T. 47). Cloning doesn't necessarily have to be creating a whole new human. It can also mean just reproducing organs so that we can save the lives of the sick in a need of a heart, kidney, lung, etc (Stanley 26). Artificial reproduction could be the only answer for couples that are infertile and homosexuals who cannot have children either (Stanley 27). If people wish to finally have an answer to whether or not cloning is a good idea then more tests and further studies are needed.
