Why Religion

It is a way of seeing the world come from a guided perspective point of view, almost like a sort of habit that is nurtured and developed with time. Jewish beliefs, for example, have been with me throughout my life influencing my opinions. They remind me of whom I am religiously, and force me to determine who I am in character.
Furthermore, religion is said and seen wherever you go. It is also said to be somewhat a value to many people. People such as Zora Neale Hurston, in the essay "How It Feels to be Colored me" believe religion to be a necessity and it should be a serious value to people all over the world. She is an American. She interprets that she is just "a brown bag of miscellany propped against a wall."(38) In fact, she suggests that what all of us are and that the bags speak of our lives and religion. They"re filled with valuable values and some worthless values. Religion should be all alike in the contents of each and every bag.
Likewise, in the story "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coehlo, the novel tells the tale of Santiago, a boy who has a dream and the courage to follow it. After listening to "the signs," the boy ventures in his personal journey of exploration and self-discovery, searching for a hidden treasure located near the pyramids in Egypt. Coelho presents the person who denies following his dream as the person who denies seeing God, and that "every happy person carries God within him"(59). .
However, only few people choose to follow the road that has been made for them, and find God while searching for their destiny, and their mission on earth. Coehlo suggests that God can be found everywhere. Santiago's belief in God gave him the strength to achieve his goals and to follow them no matter what.
Apart from the facts and truths that we may learn from religion, and apart from the comforts that we may gain from it, religion, as a science and as a study, is the greatest and healthiest exercise that the human mind can withhold.
