Sustainable Energy

            Throughout Australia there are power stations that provide the electricity for S. and they do this by using fossil fuels like coal or oil and they burn these fuels to create heat to boil water that evaporates into steam. The steam is then used to push a huge wheel that is in a turbine and that creates the electricity.
             Some places in South Australia that generate electricity are Torrens Island, pelican point, Port Augusta and the Osborne power station.
             The fossil fuels create very good amounts of electricity but it is not a renewable resource so it will eventually run out but fossil fuels are also very dangerous because they create harmful gases when heated and these gases are harmful to both the environment and us.
             The toxic gases created are one of the causes that have been eating away at our atmosphere and damaging the forests and lakes with pollutants.
             They aren't all that different actually a nuclear power station does the same thing as a coal or oil powered power station they only difference is that they use uranium to boil the water instead of using something like coal.
             There are many problems with nuclear fuel but there are also many benefits the downfalls to nuclear fuels are that it is radioactive and that makes it dangerous to the environment and us even from the slightest contact with the materials.
             Using a nuclear fuels creates the risk that the nuclear power plant might meltdown and that would spread radioactive waste all over Australia and even some nearby countries.

             Advantages:.
             It is very reliable and is low maintenance. It can be scaled down to small hand held devices or grid connected systems like ones in urban centers.
             Solar energy creates no emissions and no noise so it can be placed in highly populated areas. Solar power is a 100% renewable resource. It isn't dependant on any type of fuel, nor is it dependant on the cost of fossil fuels. It is very dependable during summer when the majority of blackouts occur because it uses that heat and light from the sun to keep you cool.
