1-800-Collect realses the corniest and most senseless commercials on earth. every night wondering what they are they going to come up with next. This month they again left me entertained by their mindless commercial. This months Commercial featured, like always, the unattractive comedian Carrot Top and model like young lady. Carrot Top takes the young lady out on a date, but not on any ordinary date, Carrot Top takes her to the payphone. After the first few seconds of the commercial I found several things wrong with that whole picture. First, carrot top is not funny, so why is he in the commercial? Second, Carrot Top would never land a date with a girl that good looking. So, off the bat, the commercial was unrealistic. So the date began and ended at the payphone. Carrot Top basically guided her on how to press the buttons to dial 1-800-C-O-L-L-E-C-T. I found it even more amusing that he had to show her when the buttons were painted a bright shade of blue. Of course, the young lady was amazed and baffled. Along with all the other 1-800-Collect commercials, this one left me laughing at how stupid it was. This was probably a strategic strategy used by the company. My initial reaction was, "This is so stupid!". This reactions went with all the other commercials prior to this one. .
The commercial is obviously not grade "A" material, right? Well, after analyzing the commercial and noticing the repetition of the number and the idiotic story line, it hit me. They were manipulating their audience. Honestly, after watching the commercial I could not stop thinking about how stupid the it was. Not only that, I knew the number and the exact position of the numbers. Every time I would see a phone I could see the bright blue buttons on the keypad. The undisclosed goal of this commercial is the significance is the number. The commercial allowed everything to be senseless and unrealistic except the number. The phone number was the actual star of the commercial.
