He practiced what he preached and through this he was crucified in the city of Jerusalem. The leader of Islam however, was not quit a peaceful man. During the first 13 years of his preaching, Muhammad seemed to be a peaceful, well meaning man. In the year 623 A.D., he became a political leader in the city of Medina. As a political leader he raided pagan caravans and used force to spread his religion. Muhammad led no less than 27 invasions to spread his religion. He also executed prisoners and sold women and children into slavery. Perhaps it should have been predictable then, that this cycle of violence would continue through the years.
Through the teachings of Christianity and Islam, we see a difference of many ideas. Although most Muslims are peace loving people, there are still many who are very violent and use the teachings of the Muslim holy book, the Quran, to wage war on infidels. In the book the Quran, we see many passages that preach to spread Islam by violence. We also see many passages that say to kill all non-Muslims, or infidels as they are called in the Quran. One quote is this, ".make war on the leaders of unbelief [all non-Muslims].Make war on them: God will chastise them at your hands and humble them. He will grant you victory over them." (Surah 9:12-). Another quote also shows that Muslims who take the word of the Quran as straight out the book to be violent, "Believers [Muslims], make war on the infidels [all non-Muslims] who dwell around you. Deal firmly with them."(Surah 9:121-). There are many more quotes in the Quran that show such violence against non-believers is just and the word of Allah. The Bible also shows the use of violence, but in a different way. In the Bible, God instructs the Israelites coming from Egypt to take the land of Canaan and kill all of its inhabitants. The Bible however, makes it clear that the people in Canaanite society deserved because they were polluted with evil ways such as sacrificing children.
