             Thesis: Although breast cancer is the leading killer in women, it can be cured.

             Attention Getter: In the U.S., about 33,000 women die from this disease .
             each year, which is about one woman every fifteen minutes?.
             Preview: Today, I would like to inform the class about breast cancer and how it is detected, the risk factors, the stages, and the treatments of breast cancer.
             Body:.
             1. There are several ways to detect breast cancer.
             A. Palpation.
             i. Feeling with fingers.
             B. X-Rays.
             i. Mammography.
             ii. The most widely used detection system.
             C. Thermography.
             i. Photographic method.
             D. Biopsy.
             i. Taking tissue samples.
             2. Some people are at higher risk to get breast cancer than others.
             A. Women over 40.
             B. Women with other organ cancers.
             C. Women whose relatives have had breast cancer.
             D. Women with history of breast cancer.
             E. Etc.
             3. Once breast cancer has been detected, there are stages that the disease goes through.
             A. Cancer is smaller than 1 in across and has not spread.
             B. Cancer larger than 2 cm and has spread to lymph nodes under arm; or tumor less or equal to 5 cm across with lymph nodes under arm testing positive for cancer.
             C. Advanced.
             i. Cancer cells spread to the lymph nodes and other parts of the body.
             D. Cancer larger than 5 cm, has spread to lymph nodes underarm; or tumor any size with cancerous lymph nodes that adhere to one another or surrounding tissues.
             E. Cancer spread to skin, chest wall or internal mammary lymph nodes.
             F. Cancer defined as tumor that has spread to places other than the breast; bones lungs or lymph nodes.
             4. To prevent the spread to breast cancer, early detection is the key. But if detected too late, there are several different ways to treat it.
             A. Total mastectomy.
             i. Removal of entire breast.
             B. Modified radical mastectomy.
             i. Removal of entire breast plus the auxiliary lymph nodes.
             C. Radical mastectomy.
