There are already thousands of children living in gay couple households. The 2000 U. S. Census reports 33% of female same-sex couple households and 22% of male same-sex couple households already have at least one child under the age of 18 living at home. By the year 2012, 110,000 live with gay parents. Of all the children in U.S. households, less than 1% lives with same-sex parents. This also proves children with same-sex parents are still a minority.

People in America are beginning to support Gay Adoption. People who support same-sex adoption now outnumber opponents. 47 % support it while 42% disagree with it. It may not seem like a whole lot but it's definitely a step up for gay rights. People who are most likely to support gay adoption are young adults, women, and those with more education support. Demographically Majorities in the East and the Midwest support same sex marriage. Majorities of democrats are also supportive. These groups of people tend to be more liberal and develop new ideas about society. People who are against same sex adoption are outnumbered. While Republicans oppose same sex adoption by a 2-1 margin. Demographically, people in the south are against same sex marriage. Down in the south people are more religious usually Christians. Also older adults, men, and the less educated are against same sex marriage. .
Arguments for Same-Sex Adoption .
Same Sex couples form better relationships than Heterosexual couples. With a more stable relationship the children are given a more secure emotional home. When a child goes through a dysfunctional home it can really take a toll on the child. They won't be able to concentrate on schoolwork or have fun with friends. The parent's sexual orientation is not the main factor in the development of a child. The primary concern about same sex couples adopting is their ability to offer child stability and good parenting technique.
