Changing Countries, Changing World

When you ask any person in Serbia what is their favorite holiday or what they like to celebrate the most , they would give you the same answer; the birth of their child. On that day a mother would stay in the hospital while the father is celebrating with the family and friends. The Father is changing his shirts a lot during the night because people believe in traditional customs. Every new guest should rip a part of his shirt for good luck. On May 22 of 1987 in my house there were a lot of ripped shirts and happy people because a baby boy was born. .
Customs and tradition will always remain the same, but for the last twenty seven years some things have been changing. The next morning in my house, while they were still drunk, my father and his friends started to build the second floor which created more space for the bigger family. My older sister was jealous because she wasn't the only one who was getting attention from everybody. Getting a son in my family was really important because I was the first boy who would continue the family tree and continue to celebrate all our Serbian traditions. .
Since the day I was born a lot of things have changed in the world such as the world economy and technology but some things stayed the same .It is amazing how the economy can rise or fall in just a year or two. For example, in Yugoslavia, the country where I was born had one of the strongest economies in the world and after a few years it fall apart and became one of the most problematic countries in Europe. On the other hand, the economy of the Brazil was totally the opposite. According to the Reuters article in The New York Times from May 22, 1987, Brazil was the largest debtor in the world with $111 billion in debt. Reuters claims that "the bankers expected to move the due date for the $14.5 billion short term debt because Brazil didn't have enough resources to repay it." Today Brazil is the fifth strongest economy in the world and one of the fastest growing economies.
