The NHS Scotland provides healthcare to all permanent residents through general taxation, unlike the means tested systems elsewhere. Because the government provides excellent health subsidies, the private sector has little influence on most patient's lives. Similar to England and Scotland the Republic of Ireland's health policy is centered on a public and private sector regulating health and personal social services to everyone living in Ireland. However recent re-organization of trusts has moved forward resulting in integration between social care and NHS. Statistics indicate that the Ireland has the highest approval performance rating in areas , "such as treatment times and Emergency Admissions." (BBC News, 2008) Each nation has its own perspective on patient care providing different experiences in each systems.

This system allows a patient to make appointments with their General Practitioner (GP) as much as they see fit.
