Today's generation full of young people who are lacking in the communication skills that are needed in public to be able to coverse with individuals that they may face where ever they are as they are so used to interacting with people without the need of seeing one another. This is especially so when people start to be "so plugged in" (Krakowsky) that they would check their Instagram feeds several times a day. In other words, people start to be so addicted to it to the point where they are unable to separate Instagram from themselves. As a result, the key ingredients behind creativity and insight are threatened as our society do not fill up their 'gap' times with significant stimulation such as frequent interactions with others in person. Furthermore, many people start to inhibit real human connection, in which they have to prioritize their virtual world, Instagram over the people right in front of them. A survey made by a non-profit Anxiety UK supports the fact that our community and social media are now highly inseparable. It stated that forty-five percent of responders of the survey felt "worried or uncomfortable" (Fitzgerald) when they are unable to access social media. Hence, our society has over-developed their easily distracted brain parts while letting their long-form-thinking, creative, solitude-seeking and thought-consolidating pieces of their brains atrophied by dwelling in Instagram much deeper. .
Secondly, Instagram leads to one of the most significant risks, cyber-bullying among the Instagram community. According to a recent study by No Bullying.com, "over half of young people have been cyber bullied" (Bendig). Instagram allows one to upload pictures and letting one's followers to see as well as comment on the pictures. Nevertheless, the danger comes when these followers screenshot the uploaded photos. The cyber-bully could just screenshot one of the pictures of their intended targets and posted them on other medias to start misleading rumors.
