Abortion and the Beginning of Life

There are so many different opinions on when life really starts and when the child is considered a human being. The development of a human being begins with fertilization, a process by which two highly specialized cells, the spermatozoon from the male and the oocyte from the female, unite to give rise to a new organism, the zygote. From Conception to birth are what I will cover and the issue on abortion. Conception is one of the things that you can never really tell that exact date but is estimated from the first day of the females last menstrual cycle. Ovulation has to take place in order for conception to happen. Ovulation is what happens when a group of eggs form in small sacs called follicles and every month they will erupt. Once the egg leaves the follicle it becomes a corpus luteum. A corpus luteum is what helps thicken the lining of the uterus with a hormone that helps get prepared for the egg. The eggs then moves to what you call the fallopian tube. The fallopian tube becomes the eggs home for 24 hours while it waits for the sperm to fertilize it. If there is not intercourse to where the egg is not fertilized it moves through the uterus and is "disappears". That's when your next period will start and your hormone level goes back to normal. But if the egg becomes fertilized from coming in contact with sperm the egg automatically changes so that no other sperm can make contact. At this exact time your baby's genes and sex are determined and set. Females and males are determined by what chromosome is set, Y chromosome being a boy and X being a girl. For a 3 to 4 day period the egg will stay in the fallopian tube. Within 24 hours of the egg being fertilized it will begin to divide into many cells. Slowly it will make its way through the fallopian tube to the uterus which is called implantation. Implantation may cause the female to spot or maybe even slight bleeding. By then the lining of the uterus is thicker and the mucus plug has the cervix sealed, that will stay in place till the baby is born.
