             HUMANISTIC APPROACH.
A common view in the person centered approach is the humanist ideal. The humanistic view addresses the ideal that humans are able to lead productive lives, able to make constructive changes in their lives, they are resourceful and trustworthy as well. There are three major principles that have been identified that create growth promotion where individuals progress in the direction of successful therapy. These principles are: congruence (which is the display of genuineness), accurate empathetic understanding (the ability to deeply grasp the subject world of another person) and unconditional positive regard (acceptance and caring). (Rogers 1957). The person centered therapist keeps the focus on the assets that the individual has coming into therapy, on what is right with the individual and the constructive side of human nature. Emphasis is placed on how the client can positively encounter obstacles that inhibit their growth and development and prosper, how they can transition and progress in conducive situations and lastly how the clients interact in their environment with those they share it with.
