America and the Revolutionary War

This idea that people could get away from the direct rule of the King will lay the ground work for American values that were largely left untouched by British influence until 1763. The new world allowed these people to start fresh and it also allowed for individuals to get away from a direct monarchy. Although many miles separated America to Great Britain, it was still a fact that people were still British citizens. These colonies were set up based off of the English model of governance and each one was considered part of the British Empire. This form of Government stemmed from the Magna Carta and the Navigation Acts, "The Magna Carta (Great Charter) of 1215 was a statement of privileges wrested by certain nobles from the king, but it be- came part of a broader assumption that the people as a whole had rights that even the monarch could not violate".2 .
Laws such as these, were generally left to the colonist to enforce with the exception of a few instances before 1763. These set of laws that govern the colonist were not enforced to the degree they were enforced in the mother country. This allowed for the Americans to have a relaxed view on this system. Location played a huge role in allowing Americans to have their voices heard. With America being many miles away, colonist had a chance to give their own input on things that affect their own towns. Each town, such as Concord and Philadelphia, had committees that allowed for individuals to make their claims. American at this time was full of vast wilderness and this allowed for many white men to have property. Men with a certain amount of property could vote on things such as governors and taxes. This allowed for each white man to have their voice on things that could hamper their ability to make money or their well being .
Britain was going through a tough time even controlling their own nation during the early years of the North American colonies.
