He also believes that either everyone around him have been brought up in exactly the same way as he has or have been avoiding different types of people intentionally. The different variables reflect his religious beliefs and his culture. Since he is an Arab American, he has always been taught to follow the beliefs of Muslims. For the most part the matrix shows that he chooses to associate with certain people based off of his culture and religion. He believes that he has more in common with people that share the same beliefs and culture as he does. He has remained connected to the same type of people throughout his entire life. Even though we live in a world that is filled with diverse communities, he chooses to stay in contact with only people that are like him. These people have influenced him to become more like them. He believes that his individuality can not be defined by only three categories. He believes that he has more depth than what his race, religion, and sexual orientation is.
             The community matrix shows that Jaimie is a European American (Greek), Christian, and heterosexual. It also shows that she associates with people that are mostly the same. She lives in Riverview, which is predominantly made up of European Americans. Although she would like to associate more with people that are different from her, she notices that she only associates with people that are similar to her. These variables tell you that she associates with people who have the same values and beliefs because that is how she was raised. Since she was born into a Greek home, the Greek faith and culture are extremely important. Her Greek family stresses the importance of God in her life. She believes that the three categories contribute to who she is as an individual. For example, her faith in God has helped her to become the strong woman that she is today. .
             After completing the community matrix, Austin saw that he is a European American of no religious faith and is a heterosexual.
