Learning Styles

.
Another group of learning styles is sensing and intuitive learners. People who are sensing learners like to learn precise facts. They do not like the theories and relationships as do the intuitive learners. Sensors like to work problems in step by step methods which do not result in surprises. They are most known for their precise details and memorization of facts. The intuitive learners are much different from the sensors. The intuitive learner likes to think of new concepts. It's almost like they feel special when they come up with something different than the concrete facts. Intuitive learners tend to work faster than sensors since they are not as precise and careful as the sensors. Intuitive learners can adapt their learning styles to the teaching styles by trying to find connections between the theories and facts. They also need to relax when taking tests in order to become less impatient with details and not make stupid mistakes because they worked too fast. Sensing learners can try to ask their teacher for examples of concepts and try to find out how they apply to the procedures. The intuitive learners are better off in college only because most college lectures are aimed at intuitive learning. I am on the lower portion of the intuitive scale. This means that I can fluctuate from sensing and intuitive learning. I do like to know the facts but I also hate repetition as does many intuitive learners. I also tend to be one of the first ones done with assignments in the classroom, meaning I work fast like an intuitive. .
Another group of styles is the visual and verbal learners. Visual learners are becoming more and more prominent because of the television. It subconsciously teaches people to connect pictures with ideas. These two styles are mostly linked together since if a person can learn both visually and verbally, they are apt to excel easier. Since most courses in high-school are based towards both visual and verbal learners, when teenagers hit college, they often get lost.
