FINDING THE WAY OUT OF STRESS

It is very important that we understand what is the meaning of stress and the consequences that this can bring to our lives. According to Webster's Dictionary, the term "stress" is given to "a state of bodily or mental tension resulting from factors that tend to alter an existent equilibrium." As this statement refers, stress can result from many factors that can alter the body or mind stability. There is a strong link between the mind and the body and stress comes and brings an unbalance in our mind causing the body to act in response to these situations. Stress is often a response to life and changes and the need to adjust to those changes [Coping with stress, 1997.] .
There is good stress and bad stress. The good stress is healthy to have because this keeps us pursuing the things we need to accomplish thru life. The bad stress on the other hand, is harmful to our minds and health, and if we do not do something to stop it the final consequence could be death. That is why we need to learn how to cope with stress and the causers before any of these effects interfere with our behaviors, emotions, thoughts and overall, with our life. .
The following are some techniques that will prevent or relieve us from the harmful stress: .
             Attitude.
Getting bad stress is an option; our attitude is what causes us to stress out. Sometimes even little things can make us explode infuriated for no reason or get to the point of being depressed. We need to change our attitude. One way we can start to change our attitude is not being selfish, projecting your self in the other person's shoes. Learn to let things go and be companioned and kind with others will make others to treat us in the same way and we will feel more calmed. .
             Relaxation:.
Progressive relaxation of your muscles reduces pulse rate and blood pressure as well as decreasing perspiration and respiration rates. [Emotion tool kit, 2003]. To start relaxing you need to stop thinking about the problems, the urgent things you need to do, find a quiet place in which you can rest without being disturbed.
