Bullying

Classroom-level interventions was the establishment of classroom rules against bullying, regular class meetings to discuss bullying at school and meetings with parents. The last level of intervention was the individual-level intervention. Here discussion with students helped to identify bullies and victims. This program was found to be very effective in reducing bullying among students in primary and junior high schools. This anti-bullying program has been adopted in Canada, England and the United States. .
The second article I chose was on the consequences of bullying by ABC News. We all know that the tragic death of Columbine High School stemmed from two students who had been bullied their whole lives. Bullying is dangerously underrated problem and most likely will be the root of more school shootings and victims committing suicide. Five teens where caught in plan back in 2001 to attack a high school in Massachusetts. Their plan was to detonate explosives, shoot classmates and then kill themselves. A janitor at the school found a note that said the purpose of it would to be, "get everyone back for calling us names and beating us with ugly sticks." This goes hand in hand with the note that Eric Harris, one of the two attackers at Columbine High. His note said, "Your children who have ridiculed me, who have chosen not to accept me, who have treated me like I am not worth their time, are dead." If that does not make the hair on your head stand up, I am not sure what will. The physical and emotional toll of the victims is amazing. Schools and adults are getting the hint, finally that this is a serious issue and it needs to be addressed. .
I chose this topic because I am amazed at all of the bullying that goes on in the schools, and in a teacher's classroom. After reading several articles, my opinion on bullying is most likely like others. It needs to be taken seriously both at home, and in the schools.
