"Walking down the hall you hear the tardy bell ring, it's the first day of school and of course you"re a freshmen. You already have three books and you know you"re going to get one more this period because it's math. You go to run to the class so you"re not late and you fall all over yourself going down the stairs. Your very, very late to your class and the school nurse forgot to give you a pass. Your new teacher gives you a pass though, to the principal's office." This is the likely outcome of a first day of school for some poor freshmen at Granite Hills. You may be thinking, "How can we solve this problem?" It's very simple actually, just install lockers. .
I also understand why the school hasn't installed lockers already. Guns, drugs, and other dangerous things can be hidden in lockers. To solve that problem the school would have to have locker checks periodically. .
There are many benefits to having lockers. One like stated above, to prevent an extremely horrible day for someone. A better reason would be to lighten the loads on small freshmen. They would be able to have a lighter backpack so they can not develop scholiosis. Another advantage is students could take the books to class and home also, the school would pay less money in books for class sets. The entire school would benefit from having lockers in the halls. But there are ways to prevent the lockers from becoming a horrible waste of money. .
I know that lockers can be dangerous as well as useful. But there is an easy way to prevent the lockers in becoming a negative thing. The solution is to have regular locker checks. The school would have a master key to all the lockers so that during one of the periods when there isn't a lunch, and check every single locker. If anyone is hiding something that should not be in there, the school could catch it before anything serious happens.
When are we supposed to install these lockers? The school could install them over the two-month summer break we have.
