One major part of education reform in many states is the integration of new assessment techniques and technology into the classroom. Some physical education programs use videotape feedback to help students better comprehend and assess their motor skill performances. While videotape has many benefits, it can be burdensome for both teachers and students. Setting up tripods, finding someone to operate the camera, and rolling out a television to watch the footage can take up a lot of time, assuming that you even have all of the equipment. Recent technological advances have produced cheap, lightweight, easy-to-use digital cameras that can download still images to your computer. Many schools have invested in one or more such cameras and have found several educational applications for them. These cameras have in turn enhanced many curricular activities. Using digital cameras, teachers and students can quickly take many pictures and print them out in black and white or color. Teachers and students could take pictures of groups and individuals executing various stages of a motor skill. These pictures could then be transferred to an electronic document with pre-designed questions or with rubrics reflecting the correct movements. The teacher could print out copies of the document for the students in the next class. .
These digital cameras hit the market about 5 years ago and ever since then they have just taken off. Teachers are able to use these with their students and it really it not that expensive of a toy to get.
I think this is a great article that I found. It is telling me when I become a physical education teacher that I should get one of these for my students so I can help them later on with their motor skills. .
