Organizational Communications

Leaders also need to have well-established active listening skills. Leaders need to treat their followers as knowledgeable beings by giving them respect and listening to their opinions. A leader also needs to be a good public speaker in order to influence followers. When a leader and a group can successfully communicate ideas with one another it will help the group as a hole in completing their main objective. A leader needs to have self-control and self-confidence. Leaders must also have extensive knowledge of the business they are leading in before people will look up to them. When a leader is able to rise above any situation thrown at them and come out on top they are showing great examples of self-confidence and self control. To me a leader must be a respected, trusted and well-rounded person. .
             There are plenty examples good leaders that I have had in my life that I could ramble on about at this point but I am choosing to do the opposite. The leader or should I say non-leader I have selected for this paper is Tyler Jones. Tyler was elected president of my fraternity in December 2001. At this point he is one month away from ended his term. Tyler is one of my good friends but he has been hands down the worst leader I have ever seen in my life. My eight-year-old cousin displays better leadership skills on his t-ball team then Tyler does as a graduating senior in college. Looking back there is actually no one person to blame for the job Tyler has done considering the fraternity as a whole voted him into the position although he did run uncontested. Tyler lacks all the traits I listed above except for self-confidence, the guy honestly considers himself to have done a good job. Myself along with another member of the fraternity Rob are in our forth.

             year as active members, which makes us, considered alumni. As alumni you have no more obligations to the fraternity unfortunately though we have found ourselves basically doing Tyler's job for the last year.
