The Great Gatsby


            Nick Carraway views himself as being the most honest man he himself has ever met. He grew up in a wealthy family in the Midwest. Nick moved east after participating in World War I, to be in the bond business. Nick is the narrator of the story, it is through him that we meet Gatsby, Daisy, Tom, and all the other characters in the book. Nick is one of the richest character's in "The Great Gatsby" in the sense that he has a moral code of ethics that he lives by and cherishes throughout the story.
             "Whenever you feel like criticizing anyone, just remember that all the people in this world haven't had the advantages that you've had," this is a quote from Nick's father. Nick "s father taught him moral values that he has learned to stand by throughout his life. Throughout the story Nick has been put in situations that have challenged his values, but no matter what the situation Nick stuck to his beliefs. Although Nick does try to reserve the judgment of others, he does realize that there is a limit. Nick was brought up by a wealthy, prominent family in the Midwest. After the war he decided to move to West Egg and join the bond business. He moved into a house next to Gatsby. Whom he had heard many stories about. He heard that Gatsby was a bootlegger, which later he learns the story to be true. He also heard other stories, that he didn't believe in the slightest. He met Gatsby at one of his parties. Gatsby introduced himself to Nick. When Nick first met Gatsby he found him to be very withdrawn. Soon after they became friends. Through Gatsby, Nick was introduced to some rather interesting characters. He meet a man by the name of Wolfsheim. Who is believed to have rigged the world series. Nick doesn't judge Gatsby's criminal activities, or shady friends. He admires Gatsby for some reason. Even though he doesn't judge Gatsby, this doesn't mean he thinks Gatsby's criminal activity is ok.
