Problems in the Egyptian Educational System

Education is one of the main components of a country`s development because education is the main way that gives people the ability to think and develop. Most of the developing countries have educational problems. In Egypt, the educational problem takes many forms. For example, graduate students always face unemployment as their educational skills do not qualify them to work in high jobs. Also some students get to the end of the primary stage, and they are not able to write their names. Many students in the stage of secondary school have a way of reading and writing that is not appropriate. Hence, Egypt has to reform its educational system in order to develop. Developing education is a complex process as it occurs through many steps, and it requires many efforts. The first step to develop education is to know the causes of the educational problem. In Egypt, the educational issue reasons are the ineffective ways of teaching, the poor infrastructures of schools and the unqualified teacher

Nature, Nurture and Parental Influence in Literature

In this essay I would like to explore the influence the parents held on their daughters in the stories "Boys and Girls," by Alice Munro, and "The Loons,"" by Margaret Laurence. In both stories the fathers held the very important role of being the primary influence on the narrators. I feel as though the fathers were the primary influences in their daughter's lives and that their influences went against their daughters' nature and ultimately failed them, while the mothers' influences which fell in line with the girls' true nature went unheard. Each story was extremely different, yet in each one the narrator struggles to meet their fathers' expectations only to have their natural tendencies prevail. Beginning with "Boys and Girls"," the narrator's father puts a lot of pressure on his daughter to be masculine. In their household the role of the men is glorified and the narrator extends this reverence. Her father imposes a very "manly"" influence and at the beginning of the story her fathe

Childhood Development - Case Study

General Information Dylan is a 3-year-old boy who during the month of June this year has attended preschool for the first time three days a week for three hours in the morning. I chose this child because this is his first preschool experience and I paid particular attention to him throughout the course of this June preschool session to see how he has changed and developed, especially in the last four weeks. I have known him for about 9 months. Currently, He is in a classroom with nine other children. Six of the children in this room (Dylan included) are verified with a disability and receive special education services, while four are serving as peer models. There are two main teachers in this room, myself as one of them, as well as a para. The room normally serves as a public preschool classroom and has various toys, books, and art and writing materials. We also have our own bathroom located in the room. Dylan is a bit smaller than other children his age. He just turned three in March

The Relevance of Humanity in a Technology Driven Society

Humans, the cause of carnage, uses the creation of technology as an ingredient to self-destruction. Humans, in the further development of the complex world, will become irrelevant due to the oversight of their greed, advancement of technology's capabilities, and the takeover of biotechnology. Greed is a part of human society that shapes a person's life. In one of Pixar Animation Studio's films, Wall-E, earth in 2805 is enclosed with garbage because of the mega-corporations' neglect for the planet. Humans extract and burn fossil fuels and continuously mine minerals, which lead the resources unable to form. Humans are still going on with gathering nonrenewable resources that they think will take months to form back, but it actually will take years. Global climate in this case is due to the burning of fuel and business factories and companies, the Earth excessively pollutes carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, causing the temperature to rise. Oil companies may conclude that if we halt the prospecting of the resources, that their business for cars will decrease their income. If we continue

Persuasive Essay - Communication Made Easy

At least 21% of the world's population uses internet-based networks in order to communicate with each other. In the past, families would be together whereas today the families are diffused around the world. So there is less contact between the family members around the world. The way people communicate as of today are through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and etc. which is social media. Social media is a big player in creating a separation among these people through cyber bullying. The way people communicate through social media is using a very outstanding website called Facebook. On Facebook, people can do almost anything to almost communicate with each other. There is messaging , video chatting, creating groups or events. These ways of communicating bring people together. If a person is in Houston, Texas and the other person is in Tokyo, Japan the way these two people can communicate is through using the messenger or the video call progr

Experiential Analysis - Organizational Communication

Introduction The organisation that will be discussed throughout this essay is a large retail company, which is located right across Australia. For the purpose of anonymity, this organization will be known as "Company X." Company X has been a part of the Australian retail industry for over ninety years, and employs a very large number of people. I have worked part-time for Company X for just over nine years, in the capacity of a team member and as a supervisor. In that time I have seen a number of different communication strategies attempted by the organisation, and management. With this essay I will endeavour to analyse what the communication process is, and how it functions in my workplace. This will begin by defining what communication means, in terms of interpersonal communication and organisational communication. I will then explore how the different communication methods are a part of Company X. The essay will then conclude with my personal observations, and recommendations. De

Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)

Abstract was developed in the 1970s to set a set standard in ensuring employers are following the proper safety and guidelines needed to protect their employees. Some find it difficult to use cases against the employers in regards to accidents by their employees. Many employers will try to falsify documents in order to prevent them from being brought up on criminal charges. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) OSHA, which is the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, was created in 1970 by Congress. It was designed to "assure safe and healthful working conditions for working men and women by setting and enforcing standards and by providing training, outreach, education and assistance " (www.osha.gov). OSHA falls under the United States Department of Labor. OSHA has an administrator who is the Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health. Also, OSHA's administrator only answers to the Secretary of Labor, who is one of the cabinet members of the President of the United States. OSHA mainly cover private sector employers and their individual wor

Weathering the Flame in Fahrenheit 451

Whether you are keeping warm in the wild or watching your house or workplaces go to ashes in a matter of minutes, fire is something we can all relate to. To most, fire can resemble warmth and safety, while to others in can represent devastation or death, therefore making it ambiguous. Mr. Ray Bradbury depicts this in his novel Fahrenheit 451. He does this by using Montag's forever changing mental and physical relationship to society. At first, Montag's personal symbol of fire is it just being a devastating and destructive force, but later on in the novel realizes the warmth and safety of it. In Fahrenheit 451, Bradbury gives us a first taste of fire in the very first chapter. Along with giving us Montag's narrow-minded mindset towards society, he also gives us the image of Montag burning a bunch of books with Montag being quoted saying "it was a pleasure to burn. It was a special pleasure to see things eaten and to see things blackened and changed." (Bradbury 3). "Ven

The Family Transformation

Abstract In this paper, I will discuss the changes in family transformation or decline. The family was once warm and secure. The adults had a shorter life expectancy. Many children were in orphanages because their parents couldn't afford to raise them. The size of the family is on the decline. Families are spending more time with their children. The family is losing some of it status. Marriage is a form of companionship. Family Transformation or Decline Past American families once were warm, secure, and satisfying are at odds with the historical record according to (Skolnick, 1991). During the nineteenth century adults had short life expectancy; children were likely to live in a single-parent home (KAIN 1990). For all reasons the rate of marital breakup has remained the same since 1860. In the 1900's 20 percent of American children lived in poverty. That's about the same of children who lived in orphanages during the previous century. Many children were there because their parents couldn't afford to r

Learning from My Leadership Mistakes

The great novelist, Leo Tolstoy, wrote the words; "Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself." This phrase can be used to describe the leadership mistakes that I will be discussing. These mistakes are lack of humility, promoting conformity, and accepting stagnancy. I will explain to you what I learned by making these mistakes, and how I could have prevented them. I say this because I believe that it is through learning from our mistakes, that we become better leaders. The first mistake that I will cover is the time when I ruined the chance to recruit a civilian. One of our squadron's new cadets was talking with a civilian at a recruiting drive. I interrupted the conversation so I could answer the Civilians question myself. I did not think that the cadet would know what to say to t

Social Media and Our Changing Government

There are more people on Facebook right now than there were people in the world 200 years ago. Facebook is one of many social media sites that is used to connect people from all walks of life. Sometimes, these people are seeking more freedoms and use social networking to find others that support their cause. Governments often attempt to control people through the Internet. This can become troublesome. With an ever-growing influence, social media is a tool of the citizens, which has changed the way governments conduct themselves, causing tension between civilians and the government. Syria is an example of a government using its power to block social networking sites. It is a country in revolt. The people are trying to get freedom and form a democracy. The leader, Assad, is restrictive and has shown that he will do whatever is necessary to retain power. Over 10,000 people have been confirmed dead in the 13 month uprising. Syria sees frequent protests which are coordinated on social net

The Presidential Inauguration of George W. Bush

In November, 2000, the presidential election between George W. Bush and Al Gore resulted in a controversial result that remains a source of cynicism more than a decade later. One of the contentious issues was that while Gore won the popular vote, Bush won the electoral college; the more troubling issue ultimately became the Supreme Court's decision that the Florida court-mandated recount was unconstitutional. As a result, Bush won the electoral votes in the state of Florida, thereby winning the election. Because a large part of the American public did not view George W. Bush as having been legitimately elected, his inaugural address was given against the backdrop of the fiasco surrounding his victory. This paper will discuss Bush's first inaugural address given in January, 2001, and will focus on the context in which it was delivered, namely that the president needed to unify the nation and promote his leadership because of the damaging way that the 2000 election was decided. Observing and Motivation in Philosophy

Just like any other universities there are always certain classes that students are required to take it just so happen, philosophy is one of those requirements. The purpose of philosophy is to examine the possibilities that all humans share in their lives to create intellectually, spiritual, and meaningful lives When students are preparing to register for classes, researching Intro to Philosophy can come off to be quite dull and tough. These thoughts can be avoided by having the motivation to set goals, the motivation to learn, and the motivation to attend class. Once students follow these steps, the class can be quite useful and relatively interesting. When students set goals for themselves, they strive to develop skills by learning as much as they can about the subject (Halawah 380). In Intro to Philosophy there may only be a few assignments, however, by setting goals students can complete the assignments on time and receive the proper grade they deserve. Although, students come exci

Direct & Indirect Actions of External Environments

Question What are the direct and indirect actions of the external environment that a manager must know in an organization? Give examples of each. Response The external environment of an organization refers to the outside institutions, factors or forces that potentially affect the performance of said organization. The action of these factors may be direct (for example, the actions of competitors) or indirect (for example, changes in business climate). Direct For direct actions, we shall be looking at the following factors: 1) Supplies 2) Customer 3) Competitor The first factor is suppliers. Elaborating on this factor, I will introduce the concept of outsourcing. Outsourcing is basically a practice used by different companies to reduce costs by transferring portions of work to outside suppliers rather than completing it internally. As a manager of a jeans retailer, I must form good relationships with multiple suppliers, so as to get the best from the market, i.e: best quality denim f

Reality's Abrogation of Light in James Joyce's Araby

The imagery of light and darkness in James Joyce's Araby is arguably the most overwhelmingly powerful throughout the narrative. The light, usually appearing as a luminous aura, seems to be constantly accompanying the unnamed female. The boy dreams and yearns for her light to guide him to his meaning in order to escape his reality. The ever lingering darkness portrays the boy's inescapable reality, one that is bleak, cold, and somber. His childhood street, his family home, and the market "Araby" leave the boy surrounded by darkness; this is his undesirable reality. Throughout the journey of the young boy, Joyce uses the infatuation for Mangan's sister and her luminescent description to demonstrate the false hope conjured by desperation, whilst using darkness to portray the reality and entrapment one must face when the illegitimacy of these dreams are realized. The setting is laid out for the reader within the opening paragraphs. The story begins in the cold winter months, tak

The Reasoning Web

Using different family assessment and intervention strategies nurses can identify strengths and issues within a family structure. With this knowledge we can help facilitate problem solving and crisis resolution for a family and promote a healthier lifestyle. This paper will examine a family household of four using various family assessment strategies as well as discuss a short term goal with interventions that has been suggested to promote health. The Bevis tools of empowerment of self-responsibility and planned change, as stated by McMahon (2009), will be used as well as evidenced from research based articles to strengthen the interventions listed. The main focus of the paper will be on a wellness diagnosis for the family; ineffective coping " stress management related to launch

Political Advertising and the Agenda Setting Theory

The issues of political parties using the Agenda Setting Theory, for political advertising campaigns is questionable of its effectiveness on voter opinions and behavior. There are key factors that actually influence public opinion and voting behavior. Opinions and voter decisions are based on news media coverage to an extent. Voter political party affiliations also play a role in opinions and voting behavior. Voters get their information from certain sources, which then lead to the different types of political advertising that tend to be most effective when using the Agenda Setting Theory, which seems to not really work ideally to its purpose nor ethical in some cases. The media - political parties in this case - utilizes the Agenda Setting Theory to focus public attention on a specific topic or one side of a story, therefore skewing the public's perspective. The media's priorities strongly influence public opinion. Newspapers choose to place the most important news on front pages as

The Environment and Sources of Power

In the last century, the discovery of power sources has created several methods to generate electricity, including chemical reactions, heat, light, or mechanical energy. Consequently, scientists, organizations, and government bodies have debated about the ideal method of power production. This essay will argue that the best way of generating electricity is natural gas due to its lower overall costs, efficient power distribution, and greater protection to international security and the environment than other power plant sources. Power generated from natural gas plants involves lower capital and fuel costs than other methods of electricity. The capital costs of a gas turbine are $350-600 per kW, which represents the lowest costs of building and maintaining a plant for any turbine-generated form of electricity. In comparison, the costs for hydroelectric and coal-driven plants range from $1200-1700 per kW, while the highest costs for building and maintaining a power plant involves the con

Evaluation of Business Performance

Profitability is the ability of the business to generate a profit as compared to a base such as assets, sales and capital. Liquidity is the ability of a business to meets its short term obligations when they fall due. In 2014 the business experiences an inflow of customers but their net profit isn't improving as sales have increased between 2012 until 2014. It seems that net profit has decreased between 2012 until 2014. This shows that the net profit margin has in fact not improved. However gross profit margin as increased between 2012 and 2014. This can indicate that the business has probably applied a mark-up to its stock, this impacts liquidity as it would result in an increase in selling price. However if the sales increased selling decreases this will increase the average numbers of days it took to convert stock into cash which can lead into a deterioration of liquidity in Sacko's sports store. The reason why net profit isn't improving could be due to the fact that the owner coul

For either spring break or a nice place to retire to Mexico brought thousands of tourists every year, but many things have changed over the past few years. What was once a warm beautiful place has now turned into a war zone. Drugs, gangs, and mass murders have become an everyday problem. So now when people think of the country Mexico they no longer think of a great place to visit at least once in their lifetime, but now it is a scary place where one's life can be taken for something as simple as wearing the wrong color at the wrong time. These problems are spilling into the United States and causing more and more place along the border to be unsafe. However, the United States can fix this problem. Stricter border control would reduce the number of crimes, drugs, and racial profiling in the United States related to the Mexican drug cartels. High cr

The Burden of Emotion in The Things They Carried

"Pejor est bello timor ipse belli." Seneca, a Roman philosopher and dramatist, expresses that "Worse than war is the fear of war." Through this description of war, Seneca distinguishes the physical aspect of war and the emotional or psychological aspect. He also expounds that the emotional side dominates the physical. Through the sands of time, this idea has remained intact. Tim O'Brien, author of "The Things They Carried," voices the idea that the mental burdens outweigh the physical agony that those in war must carry: "They carried all the emotional baggage of men who might die. Grief, terror, love, longing--these were intangibles, but the intangibles had their own mass and specific gravity, they had tangible weight" (258). O'Brien argues that fear, longing, responsibility, and uncertainty that the soldiers experience far outweigh the physical torture that they must endure in order to stay alive, burdens that are lightened only a little by the hope of returning home. The mental burd

Finny as a Leader in A Separate Peace

In John Knowles' novel, "A Separate Peace," Finny acts as a leader by being persuasive, outgoing, and caring. As most leaders do, Finny cares for the other boys and especially for Gene. With Finny always portrayed as an outgoing person, he has the quality of a leader. The boys attempt many things they don't generally do because Finny is very persuasive which a characteristic of many leaders is. The other boys participate in things that Finny persuades them to take part in and acts as a leader. As Finny talks to Gene at the beach, he states "I hope you're having a pretty good time here. I know I kind of dragged you away at the point of a gun, but after all you can't come to shore with just anybody and you can't come by yourself, and at this teen-age period in life the proper person is your best pal"(48). Finny shows his persuasive leadership skill by persuading Gene to accommodate Finny to the beach, skipping school all together. On the other hand, Finny explains to himself th

Remember the Titans and Glory Road

The polarizing effect of civil unrest, crippled the United States during the 60s and early 70s. Nowhere was it felt any stronger than in the sports arena. From the world of sports, figures like Jesse Owens, Jackie Robinson, Arthur Ashe, and Tiger Woods have become poster pinups who represent America's struggle to overcome its background of racism. Jerry Bruckheimer produced two sports drama movies that explore some of the prevailing issues of civil strife this nation faced. Both are based on true stories dealing with the racial history of American sports. "Glory Road" is a movie about Don Haskins Cinderella team, with an all black starting lineup, winning the 1966 NCAA basketball championship. "Remember the Titans" is based on a less known racial episode, the integration of two Alexandria, Virginia high schools in 1971. At the movie's core is the racial struggles which are overcome by the T.C Williams football program, to produce a winning season. As these movies unfold, it is intere
