Social Media and MarketingSocial media (or social marketing)is the promotional tool used to facilitate conversations among people online. According to Philip Kotler and Gerald Zaltman, marketing principles that are used to sell products can also be used to sell ideas. Social marketing seeks to influence social behaviors and typically does so by targeting particular audiences rather than society as a whole. It aims at specific people groups by offering what they want and/or need. The planning process of social marketing takes place by focusing on "The 4 P's of Marketing" which are product, price, place and promotion. Schultz, the CEO of Starbucks thinks that social marketing is |

Overview on Surrogacy10 to 15 % of married couples as well as single individuals who are unable to have children decide to try surrogacy. So having a surrogate mother is nothing new in today's society. This has been the solution to the problem of not being able to have children. If we look at it surrogacy has been around since biblical times. If you can remember there was a part in the bible that explains how Sarah, who is the wife of Abraham, was unable to have children. She then gave her maid, to her husband so that she could produce a child for them. Surrogacy has become the most popular trend in today's society. This is the next best thing for married couples, gay men, lesbians, and single individuals to do. In what follows I hope to accurately reflect the main points of information acquired from each of my sources on this topic. (South University Online, 2013, para. 1). The article "Children of Lesbian and Gay Parents", by (Patterson, 2009) is to focus on the children who are beginning raised by le |

A Study on ObesityAll around the world, Obesity has become an epidemic and is viewed as one of the most serious public health problems of the 21st century. Statistics on State ResponsibilitiesThere have always been many different opinions about state responsibilities and how far the state intervenes in everybody's life by taking care of their social needs. A recent online survey tried to find out how the population thinks about this issue by asking over six thousands adults from Britain, America, France and Germany. Almost half of the questioned people, except the British, think that the government's approach to the workless is not tough enough while on the other side, 36 % of the British people, find the government too harsh to the workless. When the people were asked about their attitudes on top salaries the results show that only France and Germany have a clear decision. Over 60% of them find the salaries too high and only around 20 % of the questioned French and German citizens acceptable. When you ask British people, 47% of them prefer closing the gap between the rich and poor, b |

My Grandfather, Football and CancerThe gruff voice, the vanilla flavored cigar smoke, the laugh always resulting in a hacking cough; these were the distinct memories of my grandfather. Perhaps what best described him was the vanilla flavor, plain and simple, exactly how he lived his life and interacted with everyone. I guess being born during a time of war will harden anyone's emotions but was a joke, a giggle or a smile really that hard to ask for? And this was all before the cancer hit, attaching itself to his left like a lion to its prey. No matter how strong and sturdy he may have acted, this was not a battle he was going to win by his stern look or the raising of his voice. No matter how well I did in school or how many sports teams I capta |

Violence in Schools - Will It Ever End?Despite the recent surge of catastrophes in our nation, violence is not a new issue. Violent occurrences such as shootings, bombings, and other terroristic events are things that have been happening for hundreds of years. One aspect of these tragedies - perhaps the most terrible of all - is violence in the school setting. Even this type of violence is not a new occurrence. School shootings and other violent acts of that nature have been occurring in the school setting for decades. However, it wasn't until recently that these issues have been such a front-runner in the public spotlight. The three most well-known acts of school violence to date are the Columbine shooting, the Virginia Tech Massacre, and the recent shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. These tragedies, among countless others that are not as well-known, have resulted in the loss of entirely too many lives. Most people are under the impression that school settings are some of the best protecte |

Student and Teacher RelationshipsStudent and teacher relationships are a predominant issue in our society. The topic is brought up frequently in our culture whether it be on a television series such a "Pretty Little Liars", or in major motion pictures like "Legally Blonde". This is such a known issue because of the heated arguments for both sides. This argument is especially brought up in college/university regulations. Professors walk the thin line of being an involved teacher and an inappropriate one. This line is discussed in the article The Right to Romance by Paul R. Abramson, and Eros, Eroticism and the Pedagogical Process by Bell Hooks. Over the last decade, there is been a dramatic shift in how universities handle romantic relationships between teachers and students. Colleges have widely banned such relationships, adopting strict rules on dating among students, professors, and even teaching assistants due to the fears of expensive sexual harassment lawsuits, but according to the article "The Right to Romance |

Mirror by Sylvia PlathIn the poem "Mirror"," Sylvia Plath uses strong metaphors and objects as things reflected in a mirror. Plath uses these reflections, along with water and color, as images that personify the use of the mirror. The poem describes a woman who seeks and yet denies the truth about herself and it reveals a woman growing older as she watches the process unfolding before her. This beautifully stated imagery results in a very heart felt poem. The first sentence of the poem uses metaphoric words to describe Plath's reflection in the mirror. Plath stated, "I am silver and exact"." It shows that the mirror places no judgment; therefore the mirror shows what it sees and reflects that image. In the first stanza, the author sees her reflection in the mirror. Plath states, "The mirror is not cruel, only truthful"" (4) "It considered itself |

The Life of CleopatraBorn in 69 BC, Cleopatra VII was the inheritor of the Greek Macedonian, Ptolemaic Empire in Egypt. The founder of this glorious dynasty was Ptolemy Sooter or the 'savior', one of Egypt's greatest pharaohs and allegedly Alexander's (the Great) half brother. The Ptolemaic dynasties were known for their interbreeding practices which began with Ptolemy Sooter who married Bernice I, a royal Seleucid from Cyprus. Cleopatra VII was the grandchild of Ptolemy IX, whose illegitimate son Ptolemy XII Alutes the flute player married his sister Cleopatra V. Cleopatra VII was one among the couple's offspring. Upon the death of her father in 51BC, the young 18yr old Cleopatra ascended to the throne, along with her 10 yr old brother Ptolemy XIII. The next 21 years of her reign marked a significant turning point in Egypt's history. As Horace quoted "she was no ordinary woman ". Cleopatra was one of Egypt's most popular queens, and according to Plutarch she was the first ruler of her dynasty to speak de |

Datawarehouse and Data MiningIntroduction According to Hwang and Xu (2005), a data warehouse provides organizations with a unique opportunity to increase sales and productivity. This can certainly be seen in many large organizations throughout various industries. A data warehouse is a type of database system that brings together data from various sources throughout an enterprise or industry. This data is often disparate, yet similar in the general area to which it belongs. For instance, information from a manufacturing facility and information from a maintenance facility will usually reside on two different systems. However, valuable knowledge could be gained by bringing this information together. Data sets can be much more heterogeneous than the above example. The first step in a data warehouse is to consolidate the data and place it into domains that make sense. Data is coming in from many different sources, many of which do not store data in the same way. This requires a system to homogenize the data set so th |

Bullying and School ViolenceCan bullying be prevented? Bullying and school violence are often a result of a youth's differences in look, behavior, or social status. Most school shooters have, at one time or another, felt bullied or rejected by their peers. Violence and aggression are used against the victim, who then becomes a bully. Laws and rules should be more knowing. Violence cannot be fighting with more violence. First of all, parents and teachers are important keys in the hard job of decreasing the violence level in schools. While there is no way to guarantee that any child will never be bullied (or be a bully), some measures have proven very effective in reducing bullying: changing the way parents interact with their children, early intervention, ef |

Love, Deception and Virtue in Literature"The Metamorphosis", "The Thousand and One Nights", and "Decameron" all tell stories within stories which demonstrate a woman's love, deception, and virtue. In "The Metamorphosis" and "Decameron", Ovid and Boccaccio devised stories within stories to demonstrate that women will transform themselves to protect their innocence and love when her faithfulness is cruelly tested by her spouse. A woman's love will overcome all obstacles. In a similar fashion, the stories of "The Thousand and One Nights" told by Sherazad to King Shahrayar demonstrate the patience required to earn the king's love. In "The Metamorphosis", the frame narrative allows Ovid to include many different stories to make his point. Apollo is lusting for Daphne's love, and Apollo beset Daphne for marriage, but in return she turns into a tree to sacrifice her virginity. She becomes a Laurel tree as this was her only way of escaping from marrying Apollo. Apollo takes Daphne's eternal chastity and makes a wreath out of her br |

Sample Accounting AssignmentQuestion A. I strongly agree that investment appraisal should bring more value to the business firm. The business entity usually faces to many difficulties, and they have to choose right decisions to solve them. One of the most essential choices is which project should be invested to maximize level of profitability. Unlike short-term decision-making, it's important to select an appropriate project to invest in a long period of time because it needs more time to recover the initial investment and make profit. Therefore, the firm should analyse carefully before deciding the best project that suits the organization to give a higher return (M W E Glautier and B Underdown, 2001). Investment appraisal is a good way to add value to the business entity. Even though capital investment requires an expenditure of resources and money, it creates many benefits in future time. A manager in a business organization tends to invest in a project that increases the wealth and value of the firm. Hence, |

Fighting Obesity in AmericaAccording to James Swierzbin, an astonishing half a million Americans lose there lives to obesity each year. This information and other independent studies by the author and the University of California - Berkeley, have provided the numerical statistics in this report. The health of Americans is in danger because of the make up of our society. Americans are so busy and caught up with there lives that they have marginalized one vitally important issue: Nutrition. Since the nineteen fifties when the drive-thru was introduced our ways of life have become progressively more convenient", leading to a fundamental change in our nations eating habits. The old fashioned family meal with a balanced nutrition has been replaced with fast food joints like McDonald's and Taco Bell and household staples have become frozen pizza and pre-packaged processed meals. This radical shift in Americas eating habits has caused repercussions we never could have predicted. Over the ten year span from 1991 until |

Speech - Banning Cell Phones While DrivingHave you ever thought how a simple distraction might cause a big impact on your own life, and possibly affect another person's as well? Actually, the main question that should be brought up is: why should it be mandatory nationwide to ban the use of cell phones while driving? Everyone should be aware that accidents prevention is the main reason why there must be a strict law banning the use of cell phone while driving. Imagine that one day you get a phone call from somebody telling you that there was an accident, and that your child is dead because a person using their cell phone wasn't paying attention to the road. How would you feel while receiving this devastating news? Heartbroken I bet. I am certain you believe that it would never happen to you, but do you want to take that risk. How many more innocent lives have to be taken away before we even consider the ban on cell phones while driving? Personally, I must say the clock is ticking; and more and more people will continue to die if nothing is done, and eventually leaving so |

Dishonesty in the WorkplaceWhat if you realized that your neighbor is a patient at your practicum site. You see her chart and are wondering why she always looks so tired all of the time. Archaeology, Science and HistoryThe past and its investigation involves the study of evidence from sources to build an understanding of past places, people and events. History, archaeology and science contribute to this process. These techniques play different roles in the process of investigating the past. Contributing to the investigation of the past, through written sources, is history. Historians use written sources in association with archaeological and scientific evidence in order to create possible situations that may have occurred, allowing us to get a much better understanding of the past. In the study of Alexander the Great's drinking problem, only written sources were used. The involvement of both science and archaeology were hardly used. Written sources such as The History of Alexander, Plutarch's Lives, Plutarch, Arrian, Quintus Curtius Rufus and the Campaigns of Alexander |

European Influence on Early American PaintingFrom the colonial period in North America to the peculiar American painting, the visual arts in the United States experienced several phases, inspired by the European sense of art. In search of fulfillment of need for a history, many artists managed to create their own sense of art although inspired by Europe. Sir Godfrey Kneller and Sir Joshua Reynolds were two important European painters that had made significant impressions on this artistic evolution. The most attractive portraits produced in the New York region during the entire colonial period were those of the six or seven patroon painters, as they are called, who served the powerful old Dutch landowners between 1710 and 1735 (Craven 69). In these the subject is usually painted full-length, or nearly full-length, against a green landscape. The faces are obscure and not individual, almost without a character; it is through the beauty of the bright colors and the excellent compositions that these portraits are outstanding. Engravi |

Infant AttachmentAttachment is an evolutionary achievement that is defined in the textbook as being "an enduring socio-emotional relationship"(pg. 173). It is an evolutionary achievement because it allows the individual a more likely chance of surviving. In this paper, I will be discussing how infants are able to develop attachment even though they have a limited long-term memory capacity. The infant usually develops attachment to the mother, but it does not always have to be the mother. Attachment is able to form with anyone who shows a responsive, caring attitude toward the infant, such as a father or grandparent. It is natural that a newborn shows attachment to it's mother, as she was the one who carried it for nine months. When a baby is born, it recognizes the smell and sounds its mother make |

Crab Walk by Gunter Grass"History is what it is, but it is also what we make of it. What we call history" is not a thing, an object of study, but a story we choose to tell about things. Thus all history writing requires a fictive or imaginary representation of the past"." Richard Slotkin Gunter Grass, in his novel "Crabwalk", rewrites, revises and revisits the history of Nazi Germany and World War II. Grass chooses an indirect, but subtle way, to communicate the real essence of Nazi Germany through, persons, places, objects and symbols. In fact, the plot, setting and characters in the novel combine to generate the whole process of historical revisionism. In "Crabwalk", Grass has presented history as a kaleidoscope creating different patterns from every view. The historical event of the sinking of The Gustloff becomes a prism through which the attitudes of three generations of Germans are refracted thus revising history differently. History is revived in the novel through different sources including memoir |

Europe in the Early Days of ChristianityBefore Christianity became a force in Europe, many cultures worshiped numerous "gods" and deities. The Greeks, Romans and Egyptians all believed in more than one god and prayed to them for guidance, provision, health and safety. For instance, the Greeks and Romans were host to a multitude of gods; wind, love, and many more. At the command of Pharaohs, Egyptians built magnificent temples specifically designed for worshiping their deities. During the middle ages (from 500A.D to 1500A.D.) Christianity flourished in Europe. Christians across the continent, both rich and poor, were trading in their beliefs in mythologies and turning their attentions to the God of Abraham. Many early Christians were devout and would sacrifice much - including taking long pilgrimages to Jerusalem (the home of Jesus) to pray. It was commonplace for young people to enter religious orders to prepare their lives for priesthood and other roles of ministry and service. The second largest group (and by many |

Code of Ethics and Mortgage CompaniesUnethical business behaviors exist and are present in many companies. Since I am a mortgage loan processor (previously originator), I thought I would touch on the unethical business practices that have come to the forefront in this arena. There have been so many mortgage companies going out of business since the mortgage debacle that rocked our industry in 2008. We are still feeling the effects of this debacle and will continue for years to come. This major event caused the government to change the way mortgage documents are disclosed and the amount of time borrower's have to look over such documents. One of the major issues the Government changed is the amount of money that originators and Banks used to make and the means they would use to go about doing this. I was an originator during that time and did the same as everyone else in the industry. We would hike the rate and |

The Tibetan QuestionWhat is the Tibetan Question"? This controversy is raising the eyebrows of many people in the world. The Tibet Question is simply this: does Tibet have the right to be independent? The Chinese believe that they have the right to call Tibet part of China, but the Tibetan people desire independence and want to be considered their own country. The question of Tibet's country status is a conflict about nationalism and control of territory; about who rules it, who lives there, and who decides what goes on there. In order to understand the problem in Tibet, we would have to learn some things about it's history, especially with the Mongols. Also, we need to understand the consequences of the Chinese military invasion and occupation in Tibet. Tibet's desire for independence from China dates back to the thirteenth century during the Mongolian Empire. While people actively debate over this controversy, examination of the relationships between the Mongols, Tibet, and China makes it quite eviden |

Mothers at Work and at HomeBeing a mother and raising a family is not as simple as many people believe it to be. As the saying goes, "Every mother is a working mother." Being a mother is a full-time job; taking care of the family, nurturing and educating the children and managing household chores are just a few of the responsibilities of a mother. Becoming an effective mother requires a lot time and effort and her role is far different than a 9-5 job. Being a stay-at-home mother is demanding work. But what if the mother is also employed? The situation this time would be different and this matter is being discussed in the article "Of Mothers, Work and Family. With the continuing trend of women empowerment and the reality of sustaining financial stability, mothers nowadays are working beyond as a mother. It is true that many mothers of today are employed as a teacher, nurse, call center agent, accountants, lawyers, law makers and many more. I, too, am a mother and an employee of Angeles City Water District. As I read this article, every single detail being mentioned has been very true to my case. The article |
