Essay on Apeasement

Considering the historical context of September 1938 appeasement was or the best policy of peserving peace in Europe. It was not the best policy, because it allowed Hitler to grow stronger. France and England were only concerned with their own internal problems, and allowed Hitler to get what he wanted. This eventually started World War Two. World War Two could have been avoided, if France and England cared about Europe as a whole, and if they viewed Hitler as a threat. However, Hitlr was not viewed as a threath and World War Two soon ignited.
During this time England was trying to focus on maintaining a balanced budget, and they felt that war would cause their budget t be unbalanced. The balance of trade in France was affected by depression, which created a deficit. So, France was concerned with those problems. Whe Daladier became Prime Minister in 1938, he wanted to avoid conflict at al costs, because the first war was so evastation to his country. Nevile Chamberlin actually trusted Hitler, and believed that e did no have ulterior motives at the Munich Conference. Niether France nor England cared much abot Czechoslovakia, thus givving Hitler the right to that land. This gave Hitler an increasing amount of power in Europe, and only Churchill knew, and realized that Hitler was the main threat. .
Hitler knwexactly what he was doing and he also knew exactly how the West would react. Both France and England were naive, and basically allowed Hitler to walk all over them. This gave Hitler an immense amount of power. HE now had the land he wanted, and it was handed to him. He was allowedto enter the Sudetenland unopposed, and this made him feel even more powerfl. Although England and France thought they had achieved peace, their decisions actually led to World War Two, a year afer the Munich Conference.
War was inevitable(It was perfect timing as well, becasue France and Engalnd were both unprepared).
