Growing Up

For some, high school is a place to grow and mature as an individual and learn valuable life lessons. For others, however, it seems over-rated and trivial in the "big picture" of life. Graduating high school early can, therefore, help those people to move forward with their lives and gain important life lessons-starting with college.
I was one of "those people" who was bored of high school and wanted to go in to the real world. I wanted to start college so terribly that I would have done almost anything to get there. Finally, I decided to join a program that would help me to achieve this goal. This program offered me a chance to receive my high school diploma a whole year early. By taking six classes a semester and those classes counting as a whole credit, I could take twelve credits in a year. Since this was the case, it only took me a two semesters (spring and summer) to finish high school a year early. I had a lot to figure out before college and I learned quickly how the real world works. Soon I was off to college and began to start my new life.
Besides getting away from the meaninglessness of high school, graduating early helped me to mature faster. Some may perceive this as a flaw, but I do not. I was suddenly away from hundreds of rules and procedures and entering the world of making my own choices. I had to become responsible for my school work and attendance on my own. I did not have my mom chauffeuring me to and from school and I certainly did not have teachers calling my home, when I missed class, to tell me what I missed that day. All of these reasons and more are what led to me maturing and becoming more responsible individual.

Another lesson of life that graduating early helped me to achieve is making more time to work. Working is very important to human life. If we did not work we would not have high self esteem or self worth. By working, an individual achieves a feeling of satisfaction and becomes independent in the world.
