In 1973 a landmark decision was made in our society. Wade changed the way our society copes with unplanned and unwanted pregnancies. In the Roe v. Wade decision, the Court held that a woman's right to an induced abortion (any of various procedures that result in the termination and expulsion of an embryo or of a fetus from it's mothers womb) fell within the right to privacy, protected by the Fourteenth Amendment. The decision gave a woman a right to abortion during the entirety of the pregnancy and defined different levels of state interest for regulating abortion in the second and third trimesters (Roe v. Wade Org.). Supporters of this decision known as "Pro Choice" argue that the unborn child is not alive until birth, therefore, it is a woman's choice whether or not she desires to continue the pregnancy to term resulting in live birth or not. The opposite side of this debate is that of the "Pro Life" advocates. They believe that the Pro Choice supporters of this law have used false beliefs and innuendo to promote their cause, often knowingly. Pro Life Advocates believe that the Roe v. Wade decision effectively made the killing of innocent children completely legal in the United States. One common misconception Pro Choice advocates promote is that life does not begin until after birth; that pre-born babies are nothing more than a growth of tissue or an extension of the mother's own body. By contrast, the Pro Life advocates motivation is to protect the rights of pre-born children everywhere. The first step in protecting these rights is the necessity to educate all human kind that life begins at the moment of conception; therefore millions of lives are lost and/or irrevocably damaged each day due to the carnage called Pro Choice. .
