Sociology

 

            Stratification is the most important single variable in sociology. It has more impact on you than any other thing. The accident of birth puts you in a social class. Social class affects your life opportunities, such as education. The higher the class you are in the longer the life expectancy. This is in part because you will have good healthcare and a better mental health. Social class can affect the sub culture and your group structure. We have an open class society where you can move between or among the class system. Caste systems are a closed system where you can not move between classes. In England you were born into a closed system. Anything can be turned into an issue of class.
             Status consistency is when positions on the three dimension systems match up. Status inconsistency is when your position on the three dimensions does not add up. Social mobility is defined as movement among and between classes. Which can happen by marrying into a higher class family or even winning the lottery. Vertical mobility is when a person goes up or down in a society, where horizontal mobility is where you move sideways. Often people change jobs in horizontal mobility to gain vertical mobility. Geographic mobility is included with horizontal mobility. Career mobility is known as how you do in your lifetime as Generational mobility is how you do compared to your parents.
             In Sociology there is Conflict Theory, which most find it the most important in social change. Conflict Theory has seven factors which are as followes:.
             1. Economic Matters:.
             Taxation without representation ; triangle trade ; we had good agriculture.
             slavery.
             2. Change in the way things are organized.
             The king appointed a government who carried out the kings rules which were called the Red Coat Army.
             Plantation System- required breeding! Slaves were forbidden to marry.
             3. Alienation and Exploitation .
             Alienation- The king said you are my subjects but colonists stated that they were not.
