The Twenties

 

            Technology and inventions were important in the nineteen twenties, it made lives easier for everyone. New inventions such as refrigerator made it easier for woman. Woman did not have to cook much often. The refrigerator kept the food cool and lasting for a day or two. It also meant healthier and better lives for the families. Henry Ford introduced the Model A which was more efficient and luxurious. This meant people could travel further and faster. It came in variety of colors. The invention of the radio led to music and sporting events. People could now here music and listen to sports. Baseball, boxing, golf and college football became famous sports. Babe Ruth, Al Smith, Taft, Bobby Jones also became very famous. Besides the refrigerator other house old inventions were also invented such as the vacuum cleaner and commercial laundries. Woman had time to spare all because of these inventions. .
             After Harding came Coolidge, Calvin Coolidge who fitted into the pro-business perfectly. He kept taxes down and business profits up. He had a magniloquent type of speaking. By 1929 two-third of the people had electricity. One out of nine men had jobs either building roads, train tracks, mechanics or gestations. Over ten billion phone installments were being made. .
             Woman adopted radical new fashions including shorts skirts, short hair, and makeup. Some people thought it was ridiculous, they thought woman were revealing too much. The 19th Amendment gave the woman the right to vote. Since woman had time to spare some even began working. People enjoyed lives by having fun and drinking. The government soon passed the Eighteenth Amendment also known as the Prohibition. The amendment prohibited the manufacture, sale, and transportation of alcoholic beverages. To obtain liquor illegally people went to speakeasies. The Prohibition lead to many causes and effects on the nation.
             In conclusion The Twenties talked about what new inventions were invented, how people changed over the several years especially woman, new sports being played, and the era known as Prohibition.
