Should Prostitution be Legalized

            In my opinion prostitution should not be legalized. There are many ethical and economical reasons as to why it shouldn't be legal.
             One reason I believe prostitution should not be legalized is that it would spread venereal diseases more easily. These diseases are spread by sleeping with multiple partners and they are some of the most feared and fatal diseases. Some people may be receiving HIV or AIDS without any awareness that the prostitute had it. .
             I also feel that by legalizing prostitution, the crime rate involved with it would rise. Some think that it would lower and control the crimes but just because prostitution is legal, that doesn't stop women from getting abused, robbed or even killed.
             In addition to these reasons I believe that prostitution would intensify racial segregation. This is because most prostitutes are part of minority groups and work for white customers. There is also no way to keep young ladies away from this profession and by legalizing it we are telling children that its okay.
             Adding to these problems would be the increased drug rate. Many prostitutes become addicted to drugs and use their wages to pay for their habits. Legalizing prostitution would give many drug addicts another way to sell or make money for their habit.
             Another reason to not making prostitution legal is because of the sophisticated retirement systems needed for these women. They would have to go into retirement sooner than any other occupation. Because of the aging process it wouldn't be long before they weren't able to do their work or weren't wanted any longer.
             In short there is no way to safely legalize prostitutions and eliminate many of the problems that are involved with its practices.
