There are many transitions I am sure that collegiate athletes must go through. I am not a collegiate athlete unfortunately; however as a student with a very busy schedule I too will have many things changing in my life in the near future. These changes will be ruff at times I am sure and also easier adjustments as well. Whatever the level of difficulty the dynamics of the transitions will be diverse.
As a student without scholarships it has been paramount for me to have a part-time job. Combined with my full-time job as a student this makes for a very busy schedule where time-management and multi-tasking are of the up most importance. A transition that I desire to go through is getting in more of a routine. My job being part-time in the retail industry leaves me working hours from eight am to nine pm seven days a week. This kind of schedule has led to every week being different for me. The transition that I am most indifferent to, will be from switching from one of academia where I am surrounded by people on the quest for knowledge and truth to being surrounded by people that lie on the inner fabrics of capitalism on the quest for money and power. I am not saying that I will be inept to meet this task however I am virtually clueless on how to rise to this challenge. Finally the last transition that I feel will be the most welcomed will be a change in my finances, which have no where to go but up.
Ohio State along with my work and social life has given me many transferable skills which I feel I will be able to exploit when looking for a job and dealing with my transition period. These skills include time-management, multi-tasking, being able to meet deadlines without a routine, strong social skills, and knowing how to live off virtually nothing. Transitions and life go hand in hand and I am looking forward to the next phase of my life.
