Parents, along with .
these organizations feel that if nothing is done, that their children will see .
this lifestyle, and being as influential as they are, won't understand what this .
way of life exactly is. Having to explain prostitution to a child is not .
something a parent or guardian would want to have to do. .
The last issue is disease, one of the stronger pushed topics by the .
Anti - Prostitution Organizations. This is a very touchy topic, studies show .
.
that 3 to 5 % of all sexually transmitted diseases are contracted through .
prostitution. This is in relation to 30 to 35 % of teenagers also. The U.S. .
Department of Health indicates that no evidence proves that the prostitutes .
are the carriers of HIV, though a small percentage could possibly be.
On the opposing side like the Prostitutes' Rights Activists and .
prostitutes themselves feel the opposite, but on different issues. Many areas.
allow prostitution by giving the state and local government the right to .
dictate and regulate control over these citizens. On the subject of .
decriminalizing prostitution these organizations want to see less arrests, less .
jail time, and less harassment from police enforcement. Instead they would .
like to see the state and local government enforce things that will help their .
business like special taxes, restriction of certain area where there are .
children, government documentation of individual citizens who are .
prostitutes, and frequent medical check-ups. .
This also ties in with prostitutes' rights. The activists groups try to .
enforce that these ladies and gentlemen aren't being forced to do this. It is .
the prostitutes choice. They are exercising their freedom of choice by .
choosing their place of employment just like every other American. They .
also want prostitution to be recognized as a business, with civil codes, rights .
