The Effects of Social Networking

            Social networking is a revolutionary part of our society. Social Networking sites have given us many ways to connect to each other. From email to instant messaging social networking has given us and array of ways to communicate. However, the social impacts are both negative and positive. The most recognized social networking site in the last century is Facebook. It was created in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg as a way for college students. Facebook since then has become a phenomenon in social networking moving just from the U.S. to worldwide. A major advantage of social networking is being able to connect with others from around the world. I have family around the world and to connect with them I message them on Facebook. It makes it easier because there is no need for a calling card. Another advantage is being able to find people that have same interest as you. "Like " pages allow you to find people that have the same interest in the band, show, movie, etc. It helps you connect with others on another level. A major disadvantage of Facebook is what you post can come back to you in the future. When you get a certain job it is required for you to put your username and password. If you have certain things on there can can make you a less than favorable candidate than you lost your chance there. It as well can result in stalking and other dangerous situations on there because many people post their everyday life on there. It leads to cyberstalking leaving you in a very dangerous situation. .
             Another huge social networking site or app rather that has made a major breakthrough is Snapchat. One advantage is you take photos and they "disappear " after a few seconds and the other can't keep this photo of you. It makes it easier to take embarrassing photos and not have it saved. Another advantage is that it is an alternative to just texting and you can have fun by expressing your feeling through photos. It can bring a whole different message when it come with a photo (sarcasm won't be mistaken as being mean anymore).
