Bullying and Social Media

Social Media in the United States has become such a major problem in today's society and is continuing to get worse. Social media has grown in ways that nobody ever thought would be possible. Social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram allows you to find and connect you with people around the world. You can connect from an old coworker from high school, to the girl who played Dorothy in your elementary production of The Wizard of Oz twenty years ago. Surfing through sites like this makes you feel connected to a larger community, but also can have its downside. .
Bullying has no longer persisted with the real world. The cyber world has also been hurt with this matter where technology is now used to deliberately and constantly harm others. With the growth of social media throughout the world, cyber bullying is getting worse. Bullying in the real world compared to cyber bullying has its differences. The bullying in cyber space ranges from humiliation, threats, harassment, etc. These problems are starting to harm minors where it can happen from a simple text message or a message sent using a social media website to harass someone. A form of cyber bullying can be were a child posts something on a social networking site were they are being harsh, cruel, or even meaning to embarrass someone. Another way young teens are participating in cyber bullying involves the creation of fake accounts to reach out to someone to harass them. I personally don't think kids at early ages should have any form of social networking. I say this because the victims will suffer with health problems, lowered self-esteem, and sometimes it will reach the point where they skip school. Cyber bullying is a very serious problem where it leaves victims helpless and develops a suicidal tendency.
Social networking also affects relationships in a negative way. Clients have been approaching their lawyers at the divorce court armed with evidence from social media that shows proof of their spouse cheating.
