Leadership Styles and Productivity

             - Managers control; leaders inspire.
             - Leadership and management complement each other, and both are vital to organizational success (Hughes, Ginnett and Curphy, 2012).
Steve Jobs was a trend setter when it came to innovation and style. He invented Apple products that changed the face of the technology, music and publishing industries. Barack Obama was born to a white American mother, Ann Dunham, and a black Kenyan father. He was sworn in as the first African American president on January 2009. The president is often referred to as an individual who inspires minorities by proving that race does not have to be a barrier to success.
Based on the above comparison, we may perceive that Steve Jobs and Barack Obama are automatically great leaders, however, based on the interactional framework for analysis proposed by Hughes; Ginnett & Curphy (2012), You cannot make an intelligent decision about the leader's actions by looking at the behavior itself. You must always access leadership in the context of the leader, the followers, and the solution. Throughout this paper, other themes to be analyzed with regards to the two leaders are: the 3 Cs of leadership, emotional intelligence and leadership development.
