The Importance of Renewable Energy

Coal also is a mined substance and causes many casualties every year. Even if coal is much more efficient and cheap, lives are worth more than any amount of money.
Another problem with renewable sources is that some rely on weather in order to transfer energy from a natural source into usable electricity. An example of this would be if the wind is not blowing for a wind turbine to run or clouds blocking solar panels. This could be a potential problem that generating energy from fossil fuels do not face. They are able to burn at any time not relying on weather at all. Even if some of the renewable sources do rely on weather, there are many different types of these sources that all have different means of generating energy. Another great advantage of solar panels is that they absorb many different wavelengths of light. This means that even if it was cloudy they would still work just as well as if it were sunny. .
Though it may be more expensive to use wind power or other alternate energies the use of renewable resources will not only prevent the Earth from running out of fossil fuels, but also it will be able to aid in the strive towards a cleaner environment and air. The air is being filled with an immense amount of carbon dioxide emissions from the burning of fossil fuels in order to create energy. According to EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) "The combustion of fossil fuels to generate electricity is the largest single source of CO2 emissions in the nation, accounting for about 37% of total U.S. CO2 emissions" and "The combustion of fossil fuels such as gasoline and diesel to transport people and goods is the second largest source of CO2 emissions, accounting for about 31% of total U.S. CO2 emissions" These two major emissions from fossil fuels are filling the atmosphere with unneeded amounts of carbon dioxide.
In order to fix this issue what needs to be done is to use renewable and non-environmental harming sources of energy.
