War: To Be or not To Be

Many situations led to the beginning of World War II. Also, many situations are beginning to lead us into a possible war with Iraq. The two leaders of the opposing sides share many similarities and differences. Adolf Hitler and Saddam Hussein may be seen as completely different people, but they are not as different as you think.
Adolf Hitler came into power because of the Enabling Act. The Enabling Act granted the government the right to decree laws for the following four years. The Enabling Act gave the regime free rein to pursue its politics through terror and compulsion. In addition, the Enabling Act also gave the regime full power over the government states. Also, the boycott of all the Jewish owned stores helped Hitler in his gain of power. They used these powers to destroy the other political parties. Hitler claimed the German people only needed one party. Hitler violated a few things while he was in power. Hitler violated the Treaty of Versailles by rearming his military. He thought the Treaty and the League of Nations were ineffective. He also violated his power by stripping the Jewish people of their rights. Hitler moved all of the Jews into concentration camps just because they were different. He believed in a superior race of blonde hair, blue-eyed people. He tortured his own people just to gain power. These reasons and more led to the war with Germany. Hitler invaded Poland when he was asked to disarm his military. The violation of the demand led to the war. Also, the pact with the Soviets led to the war with Germany. Hitler was a brilliant man, but he made some mistakes.
Saddam Hussein came into power by assassinating his way to the top. He killed numerous people that held offices above him, so he could get the job. There is no rock hard proof, but he has been known to be involved with almost all of them. Hussein was also elected by his people to be the President of Iraq.
