            Efes Ege produced the first canned beer in Turkey in 1986. By 1993, the company introduced Efes Light and Efes Extra. In 1995, the product line was expanding even more with the introduction of Everest Beer, and three years later, Efes Dark and Marmara beer. The most popular beer flavors are Efes Pilsen, Efes Light, Efes Dark, Efes Extra, Marmara 34, Miller Genuine Draft, and Beck's. In addition to these beers, the company offers a wide variety of local brands in different countries.
             Efes Beverage Group, the major contributor in Turkish economy, has merged four beer companies under the name of Anadolu Efes. This company has 80% market share in the beer market of Turkey, and consists of five breweries and two malteries. With the most up to date technology, high production capacity consisting of 910 million liters of beer, 97,500 tons of malt, and 2,000 tons of hops, the company's export potential, and very powerful distribution networks, Anadolu Efes dominates the beer market in its country. .
             Today, Efes Pilsner is enjoyed in over 30 countries worldwide, including Russia, Moldova, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Romania, Holland, Serbia, United Kingdom, Germany, USA, Japan, and other Eastern European countries. In 2001, international beer sales volume increased by 42% and reached a level of 2.5 million hectoliters.
             Efes Beverage Group's target is high-growth markets from Eastern Europe to Asia. This is reflected in the company's mission statement: "Becoming the leading producer and marketer of beverages in region between the Adriatic Sea and China." The company not only produces and sells its well-known Turkish beer in these countries, but also caters to local tastes and produces local brands. As of now, the company employs about 7,000 people in its operating area. Including the export volumes, international beer sales volumes of the branded products represented close to 40% of the total beer sales volume at the end of 2002.
